Congressional and Public Affairs Media Advisory: FSIS To Host Listeria SummitWASHINGTON, Nov. 6, 2002—The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service will hold a Listeria monocytogenes summit on Nov. 18 to allow government, consumer groups, industry, academia and the public to discuss current policies, scientific research and programs as they relate to Listeria monocytogenes. The public meeting will focus on assessing, managing and communicating risks associated with Listeria monocytogenes. FSIS will invite public comment and discussion throughout the meeting. A meeting agenda will be posted on the FSIS web site next week. The summit will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 18, at the Holiday Inn, 550 C St. SW, Washington, DC. Attendees may register for the meeting on site, but are encouraged to pre-register as soon as possible.
