To the Hillery and Quadros families....At a time like this, we seek to honor all that Jean and Tom represented with one of the
greatest symbols of respect this country has to offer. We can offer no higher tribute than to dedicate this tree in their memories.
By doing so, we hope to convey how much these individuals meant to us in the USDA family, and how valued was their service to the
nation. As this magnificent Linden has put down roots on these grounds, Jean and Tom put down roots in our USDA family.
We'll long remember what they stood for through this living symbol. The lives they lived and the contributions they made in California
will forever be remembered here, a continent away, on the grounds of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. And as you can see on
this corner so close to the Department and the Washington Monument, thousands of their fellow citizens will stop, learn about their
sacrifice and think a moment about them — everyday — for many years to come.
We dedicate this tree with profound thanks for the work and the lives of Jean Hillery and Tom Quadros.
