Feb 5, 2007 - The Wornick Company, a Cincinnati, Ohio, firm, is voluntarily recalling approximately
7,848 pounds of pasta entrees for toddlers due to the presence of an undeclared allergen, cheese (milk), the
U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced today.
Two products labels were inadvertently switched. Consumers should be aware that the chicken pasta product subject
to recall may actually contain beef ravioli instead. The beef ravioli product contains cheese (milk), a known allergen.
The following products are subject to recall:
- 5.8-ounce packages of "Gerber GRADUATES FOR TODDLERS, lil' entrees, chicken & pasta wheel pick ups in sauce with peas." Each label bears the establishment number "P-19076" inside the USDA seal of inspection. The bottom of each package also bears the UPC code "15000 04870" as well as "21 Dec 07" followed by numbers between and including "0858 and 1053."
- 5.5-ounce packages of "Gerber GRADUATES FOR TODDLERS, lil' entrees, beef ravioli in tomato sauce with green beans." Each label bears the establishment number "19076" inside the USDA seal of inspection. The bottom of each package also bears the UPC code "15000 04876" as well as "20 Dec 07" followed by numbers between and including "1030 and 1127."
The entrees were distributed to retail stores nationwide.
The problem was discovered following consumer complaints to the company. FSIS has received no reports of illness
due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an allergic reaction should contact a physician.
Consumers with questions about the recall should contact the Gerber Parent Resource Center at (1-800)-4-Gerber. Media
with questions about the recall should contact Gerber Director of External Communications David Mortazavi at (973) 503-7834.
