Public Meeting To Address Agenda Items for the 39th Session of Codex Committee on Food Additives

WASHINGTON, Feb. 27, 2007 - The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Office of the Under Secretary
for Food Safety and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the Department of Health and Human Services
today announced a public meeting to provide information and receive comments on agenda items and draft U.S.
positions for the 39th Session of the Codex Committee on Food Additives (CCFA), to be held in Beijing,
China, April 24-28, 2007.
The public meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 8, from 3 - 5 p.m., in the auditorium (Room 1A003),
Harvey W. Wiley Federal Building, 5100 Paint Branch Highway, College Park, Md. Attendees are encouraged
to register electronically at ccfa@fda.hhs.gov
by March 6. Early registration will expedite entry into the building and its parking area.
Agenda items and documents related to the 39th Session of the CCFA will be available prior to the meeting at
www.codexalimentarius.net/current.asp.
Codex was created in 1963 by two United Nations organizations, the Food and Agriculture Organization and the World
Health Organization. Codex develops food standards, guidelines and codes of practice in order to protect the
health of consumers, ensure fair food trade practices and promote coordination of food standards undertaken by
international governmental and non-governmental organizations.
Interested parties are also invited to submit their comments electronically at ccfa@fda.hhs.gov.
