Public Meeting To Address Agenda Items for the 24th Session of Codex Committee on General Principles

WASHINGTON, Feb. 15, 2007 - The Office of the Under Secretary for Food Safety of the U.S.
Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced a public meeting to provide information and receive comments
on agenda items and draft U.S. positions that will be discussed at the 24th Session of the Codex Committee on
General Principles (CCGP), to be held in Paris, France, April 2 - 6, 2007.
The public meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 7, from 1 - 4 p.m., in Room 107-A, Jamie L. Whitten
Building, USDA, 1400 Independence Ave S.W., Washington, D.C.
Agenda items and documents relating to the 24th Session of CCGP will be available prior to the meeting on the
Codex Alimentarius Web site at www.codexalimentarius.net/current.asp.
Codex was created in 1963 by two United Nations organizations, the Food and Agriculture Organization and the
World Health Organization. Codex develops food standards, guidelines and codes of practice in order to protect
the health of consumers, ensure fair food trade practices and promote coordination of food standards
undertaken by international governmental and non-governmental organizations.
