FSIS To Hold Teleconference On Beyond the Border Action Plan Preclearance Pilot
FSIS will be conducting a teleconference on Tuesday, September 18, at 11:00 a.m. ET with interested stakeholders
to describe the FSIS Preclearance Pilot scheduled to start later this month as part of the Beyond the Border (BtB)
Action Plan. Conference call details will be provided in a separate notification to stakeholders.
The pilot project will consider alternative methods for reviewing import documents prior to the shipment's arrival
at the U.S border and alternative methods for the release of shipments that are destined for further processing
at an FSIS official establishment. The pilot will begin the end of September and run for one year.
On February 4, 2011, President Obama and Canadian Prime Minster Harper announced the U.S.-Canada joint declaration,
Beyond the Border: A Shared Vision for Perimeter Security and Economic Competiveness. Further details about the BtB
and the Action Plan can be found at

A July Fact Sheet about the Preclearance Pilot can be found at

Further updates about the pilot will be posted on this Web page as they become available.
