FSIS to Begin Routine Sampling for Six Shiga Toxin-Producing Escherichia coli and E. coli O157:H7 in Raw Beef Manufacturing Trimmings June 4

Federal Register Notice Now Available on FSIS Website

The Food Safety and Inspection Service today posted on its website a Federal Register notice to confirm that it will begin implementing routine verification sampling for six Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC), in addition to E. coli O157:H7, in raw beef manufacturing trimmings. Sampling will begin June 4, 2012.

The Federal Register notice also includes responses to comments on the September 20, 2011, Federal Register notice, Shiga Toxin-Producing Escherichia coli in Certain Raw Beef Products regarding the June 4, 2012, implementation of STEC sampling and related issues.
