The expanded recall includes additional products produced on July 16, 2004, which are Hi-Grade Meats, Inc., 10 pound boxes of:
  • "00425, HOT POLISH SAUSAGE, 5/LB - 5" - HOG CASING - BULK PAK"
  • "00333, BEEF FRANKS, 5/LB - 7" - SKINLESS - BULK PAK"
  • "00415, HOT POLISH SAUSAGE, 4/LB - 7" - SKINLESS - BULK PAK"
  • "00305, BEEF FRANKS, 4/LB - 7" - SKINLESS - BULK PAK"
  • "00480, BRATWURST, 5/LB - 5" - HOG CASING - BULK PAK"
Each of these products bears the "MADE ON" date of "07/19/04."

The original recall on August 3, 2004 included 10 lb. packages of "HI-GRADE WIENERS, NONFAT DRY MILK ADDED." Each package bears case code "00268" and the USDA establishment number "Est. 4133" inside the USDA mark of inspection. In addition each package contains the "MADE ON" date of "07/19/04" totaling 1,470 pounds.

Problem/Reason for Recall:
The products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

How/When Discovered:
Plant testing reported a positive result for Listeria monocytogenes on August 3, 2004. The original recall on August 3, 2004 was expanded on August 4, 2004 after it was discovered that further products produced on July 16, 2004 may have been contaminated.
