The Certificate of Excellence program is designed to encourage FSIS and state inspection personnel as well as any other interested Federal or public sector employee to take advantage of available educational and training activities and make self-development a life-long activity. The program attempts to structure all types of job-related learning, formal and informal, into a format that will make it easier to reach both professional and personal development goals.

Certificate of Excellence
In August 1997, the Certificate of Excellence Program was awarded the International Association for Continuing Education and Training's Exemplar Award for an exemplary program or project that demonstrates a significant, relevant impact on the populations served. (The IACET Awards Committee noted that it was looking for a model a program or publication that other continuing education and training programs could be "inspired by.")
GS-7 HACCP CD-ROM Self-Study Program
This voluntary self-study program is available to all in-plant GS-7 FSIS employees through Continuing Education & Distance Learning Center (CEDL). It is a CD-ROM version of the facilitator-led HACCP field training. The training packet includes a videotape, several CD-ROMS, and workshop sheets. When the entire course is successfully completed, 4.6 Continuing Education Units will be awarded.
