Student Loan Repayments Available (Food Inspectors)

FSIS offers student loan repayments to newly
hired Food Inspectors in designated shortage locations.
Under this program, individuals with qualifying student loans receive payments
of up to $10,000 per person. The amount, minus any applicable taxes, is
applied to the student loan debt directly.
Participants must be new
to the federal government or have had a break of service of at least
90 days. They must also sign a three year service agreement. Loan
repayments using appropriated funds will be made through the existing
Student Loan Repayment Authority (5 U.S.C. 5379), USDA Departmental
Regulations (DR 4050-537), and FSIS Directive 4537.1.
