How To Indicate Interest in the VSP
How to Apply to the Volunteer Student Program
Students must be currently enrolled in college. Students interested in taking part in the FSIS Volunteer Student Program for an unpaid externship should e-mail the following information/documents to FSISStudentjobs@fsis.usda.gov:
  • Name
  • Current Institution of Higher Education (or College of Veterinary Medicine, if a veterinary student)
  • Graduation Date
  • Available Dates
  • Location(s) of Interest
    (Please keep in mind that this is unpaid, so the ideal situation is somewhere close to family/friends or school.)
  • Resume
  • Transcripts (Unofficial copies are accepted.)

Citizenship Requirement for the Volunteer Student Program
U.S. citizenship is not required; however, we must have a friendly treating in place with the student's country of origin.
