The Office of Public Affairs and Consumer Education (OPACE) ensures that all segments of the farm-to-table chain receive valuable food safety information.

With continued focus on the safe food handling behaviors of Clean, Separate, Cook, and Chill, this campaign uses new consumer-tested materials and messages to help consumers change their behavior and maintain those changes.

Congressional & Public Affairs (CPAO)
CPAO provides information products or services to varied audiences, including Congress, the media, and constituent groups. Information products include news releases and recall releases, fact sheets, the FSIS Constituent Update, reports to Congress, and speeches. The office also provides support to the National Advisory Committee on Meat and Poultry Inspection.

Food Safety Education Staff (FSES)
FSES educates consumers about the importance of safe food handling. This staff manages educational campaigns including the Meat and Poultry Hotline, Thermy™, and Be Food Safe.

Executive Correspondence & Issues Management Staff
In addition to handling executive correspondence on a variety of public health, scientific, and regulatory issues, this staff ensures compliance with the Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act.
